Badges and ButtonsAyr United were formed in 1910 (not 1877 as shown in the Esso Collection Football of 1970. The badge has been with the club in different guises since then but in 2015 a complaint by a member of the public to the ‘Lord Lyon of Scotland’ launched an investigation of the badge and their decision the badge contravenes the Lyon King of Arms Act of 1672. In 2017 the old badge was changed to the new look after a complaint from another club in the SPFL. It had to change due to the very old wording of the act which says that we have to "escheat to his Majestie all the moveable goods and geir upon which the said armes are engraven." Looks like we will all be locked up in the Tolbooth for using it aolol these years. If it wasn't so serious it would be laughable. The new badge was announced after a vote by supporters on 18th April 2017 and was used from 1st July 2017. Over the years the club badge was used in all sorts of items and cam in various shapes and sizes as can be seen. |
