The 2000/2001 season was the 104th season of Scottish league football.
Another successful season for Ayr, including another foreign tour. The Honest Men attained 2nd place in the league but, 7 points behind Livingston who gained that premier league place.
There were some good wins and Falkirk became Ayr’s whipping boys being beaten 5-2 and 6-0 at Somerset Park.
The season heralded a career landmark for John Traynor who was honoured with a testimonial against Newcastle United.
