The 1967/68 season was the 95th season of competitive football in Scotland and the 71st season of Scottish league football.
The fall out from the previous disastrous season made it hungover Somerset Park and mitigated against an automatic return to the First Division.
Nevertheless the young Ally McLeod managed to stabilise the club and achieved a very creditable 5th place. The league campaign though had results ranging from a 5-2 home win against Albion Rovers to a 5-1 defeat at Brechin City
Ayr also earned another Scottish League Cup quarter final place losing out to Celtic at that stage
