The 1953/54 season was the 81st season of competitive football in Scotland and the 57th season of the Scottish Football League
United’s final league position was less than United had hoped for, particularly after a good win against Rangers in the League Cup.
A 5-1 defeat by Berwick Rangers in the Scottish Cup was a bad result in a lack lustre season.
High spot in the season was United being at Hampden Park to play Queen’s Park in the 50th anniversary of that great stadium on 31st October 1953.
The Honest Men at least won that match by 4-2.
